WOBA DRESDEN has completed the modernization of the Carolinum

7/25/2007

  • Modernization worth EUR 9.7 million now completed
  • More than 70 percent of all apartments already let
  • Guest apartments for younger and older guests

The WOBA DRESDEN has completed the modernization of the Carolinum on St. Petersburger / Pillnitzer Straße and has already attracted a large number of new tenants.  "The people are responding really well to our offer.  Only five weeks after finishing the work we have already let more than 70 percent of the 429 apartments.  And we have quite a few more contracts that we are about to sign," says Betina Haschke, manager of the Altstadt Customer Center.

The WOBA DRESDEN started the modernization in the fall of last year and has invested a total of EUR 9.7 million into the apartments since then.  This includes, among other things, new tiles in the bathrooms as well as new sanitary installations and plumbing.  The apartments were equipped with new, light-colored flooring, and the doors, the heating installation and the electric wiring were also replaced.  Furthermore, small kitchen units are currently being installed in some of the apartments to help especially younger people move into their first own home.

The special offers have been prepared by WOBA DRESDEN for tenants at the Carolinum.  A concierge service has been available at the main entrance on St. Petersburger Straße since June.  The concierge offers a large variety of services, ranging from selling breakfast roles and newspapers to organizing add-on services such as cleaning and laundry.  And when tenants go on vacation the concierge makes sure that the tenant's plants are being watered.  "Our tenants really enjoy this free service," explains Betina Haschke.

Another special offer will be the guest apartments that provide accommodation for tenants' visitors.  Says Betina Haschke, "this service has been extremely well received at the Strassburg, and that is why we decided to offer it to our tenants at the Carolinum as well.  The apartment is about 38 sqm and provides room for up to 4 people who are visiting with friends or family living in the Carolinum.  And it works for any age group - the apartment even has an integrated children's bed."  Starting in August there will be a community room with a kitchen for up to 40 people, where tenants can have parties.

Applicants can obtain further information on the Carolinum and its services by contacting the Kundencenter Altstadt, An der Kreuzkirche 6, or right at the Carolinum in a sample flat on Pillnitzer Strasse 4, ground floor, on the left.  Opening hours are
Mon - Fri between 3pm and 6pm.
